Man Sentenced For Marrying His Daughter After Alleged 'Jealous Competition' With Half-Sister

Josephine 11/08/2021

A depraved Nebraska man has been jailed for having sex with his biological daughter — even marrying her when cops were on the case, according to reports.

Travis Fieldgrove, 40, was tracked down by daughter Samantha Kershner, 21, after pleading with her mom to tell her who her real dad was, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

Kershner was allegedly motivated to get intimate over "a jealous competition with her half-sister regarding who could have sleeping with their father,"according to the paper, which cited a court affidavit.

According to reports, what prompted Kershner to engage sleeping with her father was a "competition" with her half-sister. Her half-sister had jealously challenged her to a competition regarding who could successfully have sleeping with her father.

After Kershner had tracked down her father, the pair started having a relationship. A little while later, the two got married in Hastings at the Adams County Courthouse.

Upon investigation and a DNA test, it showed that Fieldgrove had a 99.999% probability of being Kershner's biological father. Evidence also showed that the pair already knew of the father-daughter relationship before they started getting intimate.

Fieldgrove, of St. Paul, Nebraska, initially was charged with committing incest, a felony, but under a plea deal, pleaded no contest to an attempt charge, and as a result, was jailed for two years. Hall County Judge Mark Young also gave credit for 121 days already served.

On top of his jail time, Fieldgrove was also ordered to serve post-release supervision for a year to ensure he would not contact his daughter again. According to Defense Attorney Jeff Loeffler, Fieldgrove felt embarrassment for the offense. He also added that the 40-year-old actually suffered from a brain injury, possibly being the reason why he would consider marrying his biological daughter in the first place.

Defense attorney Jeff Loeffler told the World-Herald that Fieldgrove is embarrassed by the offense and claimed his client suffers from a brain injury and is not a "high-functioning" person.
